About the CCEE and UDL

“The CCEE transforms public education, so every student is inspired and prepared to thrive as their best self in the world”

That’s CCEE’s vision, and to thrive in the 21st century, every student needs to become an expert learner. Expert learners want to learn, know how to learn, and can strategically apply their learning to solve real world problems. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a research-based framework for teaching and learning that intentionally fosters and supports expert learning.

In pursuit of our vision, we want to enhance the capacity and coherence of support for UDL implementation. We recognize there are many excellent programs and practitioners already working to meet the needs of LEAs across the state. CCEE is committed to partnering with CA and national organizations to highlight resources and models of best practice, provide guidance and tools to LEAs implementing UDL, and to collaboratively identify and address gaps in existing support.
